Whatever your level of surfing experience (or even if you’ve never surfed before!), Tofo will have something for you. Its sheltered bay is protected from the elements, meaning smaller waves perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers. When the winds are right, you’ll see the water peppered with surfers: instructors taking lessons, families bodyboarding with the kids, beginners getting some practice (and, likely, falling off a few times!) and locals just enjoying the waves - and maybe even practicing a trick or two. If you have your own board, you can jump straight in. If not, it’s easy to find somewhere to rent a board and even book a lesson. If kiteboarding is more your thing, Tofo has a growing kiteboarding community with rentals and lessons becoming available more recently.
